DayZ dev team celebrates Ivan’s return with new skins, character races

DayZ

The development team behind the upcoming standalone DayZ release has been bolstered by the return of Ivan Buchta from jail in Greece, and is excitedly moving ahead on a number of new fronts.

A new post on the development blog, released on Saturday, shows screenshots of not only the new female character heads showing different races available, but also new screenshots of an increasingly redeveloped world.

The post also notes increased work on the inventory system and the weapon attachment system, with the reveal that the standalone game will ship with less weapons than the current version of DayZ but with weapons of a higher visual quality and with great customisation options. Content updates with new weapons and items are planned each week.

Take a look at the official site for more information, including Q&A’s from people on Twitter throughout the week.

How much is this rubbish going to cost?

If it is such rubbish then I am sure the price is quite pointless for you to even bother knowing.

How much will this cost? :D

Rocket said that it could be around $20.

Who cares how much, just give it to me!!!!

Dayz has changed FPS for me… everything seems kiddish and simple now. This reminds me of stalker. and i hope that the assured success of Dayz will show other companies that we no longer need nor want FPS games that tell you EVERYTHING and where to go. that you dont need a strained attempt at a story line. that theres as much (nay, MORE!) fun and excitement in just surviving the environment than there is saving the world….

Colonial Marines would have been better off taking a leaf out of Dayz’ book. Open world Hadley’s Hope. Surviving xenos, setting up defenses. scavenging ammo supples…. mmmmmmm….
Bring on the golden Dayz of gaming.

I am interested more in what changes are being made to the engine for the DayZ standalone and hope that alot of the improvements are rolled over into arma 3 (very likely).
