DayZ appears on Steam as official ArmA 2 mod

DayZ

Steam was updated a short time ago with a brand new addition to the family: the official DayZ ArmA 2 mod page. Installing the mod should now — theoretically — be a simple, one-click operation and one that will automatically remain up to date as patches roll out.

The move comes as development ramps up on the DayZ standalone game, which is expected to supercede the original mod. This move may indicate that the DayZ team intend to keep the mod active beyond the release of the standalone, or at the very least that they’d like to archive it in an easily-accessible manner.

Cool..I always found it annoying not able to connect and then asking my friends and finding out through them a patch has come out and having to muck with files to get it sorted.

I think the horse has bolted on this one.. it would have been useful a few months ago before hackers ruined every game.

I got overly excited last night when the steam news window popped up saying “Now Available: DayZ” I thought it was the standalone game, my heart skipped a beat, until I read it properly.
