So you can pay double what the US pays to buy Ubisoft games through Origin and download them at 30KB/s, or you can get origin games for free through uplay and download them at full speed but can’t play them most of the time due to the whole thing being a steaming pile of crap…

Written like someone who has never used the abomination that is uplay. Calling it a virus would be unfair to viruses and imply a level of functionality it lacks.

If this means i can buy Origin keys for ubisoft games and not have them launch uplay then this is great news. BUT these are 2 companies who have let me down before and i fully expect they will do it again.

GeneralHerpes, Steam does the job so well where the other 2 are just not that good, Uplay being utter rubbish. Steam also has Aussie content servers witch is free data for most.

generalherpes, It's more to do with the unnecessary doubling up of DRM. Ubisoft also do this on Steam (uPlay (and, in the case of Anno 2070, SolidShield) in addition to Steam) and I hate them for it.

I have assassins creed 1 and 2 on steam. I believe each of the games launch uplay and then uplay launches the game.

There’s no word on whether or not installing an EA game through uPlay will require you to launch Origin, or if buying an Ubisoft game through Origin will mean firing up uPlay anyway.

Odds on that that will be the case.

The bigger Origin/uPlay get the more incentive there will be for developers to release solely on those platforms. How long until they start paying devs to not release on Steam?
