Aliens: Colonial Marines ‘Bug Hunt’ DLC accidentally outed in Walmart poster

Aliens: Colonial Marines 'Bug Hunt' DLC

Members of the official Gearbox forums have spotted some promotional material for Aliens: Colonial Marines in Walmart, one of which reads “Team up with your friends to take on waves of increasingly difficult enemies in an all-new game mode”, by the name of “Bug Hunt”.

The image continues “Available March 19, 2013 via download”. So! Seems like a pretty open-and-shut case here: Aliens: Colonial Marines is getting a horde mode DLC next month. For $14.99 (or rather, probably $25 for Australians).

As the original poster on the Gearbox forums points out, “$14.99 value” indicates that it could be free for some users, or perhaps bundled free with something so that people can be charged $14.99 if they want to buy it separately later. What do you think? Horde mode seems a natural inclusion for me, especially against the xenomorphs.

Shouldn’t wave defense mode be.. I don’t know, FRAKKIN INCLUDED?

“Aliens: Colonial Marines is getting a horde mode DLC next month”

Shouldn’t that say “a survival mode”?
The Locust Horde isn’t in Aliens.

If it’s going to be a paid DLC it had better be something properly designed, with perks and weapons to purchase/earn as you survive. Like Killing Floor, Nation Red or COD Zombies.

I wouldn’t pay extra for something that uses the exact same repetitive gameplay and abilities on every playthrough. But I’d be willing to throw money at them if they can implement the mode properly.

slazza,

Its the same gameplay aspects. Who you’re killing doesn’t matter all that much.

syncourt,

Well, if its anything like Killing Floor then I’ll take 5 copies :D
Seriously, should be interesting to see how they go, knowing that gearbox is a well known studio with a bit of experience under their belt, gonna be fun to try out.

I was hoping they’d have hunted down all the bugs before release. :O

DLC before the game is released?

How about release the game complete and make people feel as though they got their money worth.

These developers make the game AND the DLC all at the same time and drop it at random intervals to boost revenue. Sticking to P2P until a good game comes along.

Sounds like Gearbox has some Wreck It Ralph fans :)

How do you know they have already made it? This is only a promotional thing, they probably haven’t started putting it together yet.
‘Available march 19′ to me means they haven’t finished putting it together, if they had said available on day 1, then the red flags would have gone up.

I am more than happy to throw money at developers if they do something worthwhile.

No news about it breaking street date? Was surprised to find it on sale at JB’s today for $69. Couldn’t resist

I bought the season pass; not sure if I should of bothered, the game isn’t half of what it should be :(

Yeah it’s a bit meh so far
Unpolished more than anything
Graphics….old…
The cargo bay is out of proportion to the movie too
