Alien Noire teaser site is possibly linked to Prey 2

A mysterious teaser site has turned up called Alien Noire, which is rumoured to be associated with an upcoming reveal or announcement of long-awaited sequel Prey 2. If you visit the teaser site, select all, copy and then paste into a text editor, you can see the current state of the countdown time – about 26 days at time of writing.

The name certainly fits, and the logo at the top of the site looks a heck of a lot like the word “Prey”, but there are reasons both to believe and doubt. On the doubting side, a post on NeoGaf shows a screengrab of source code listing keywords such as Prey 2, developer Human Head and publisher Bethesda Softworks, but its veracity has been challenged, suggesting a hoax, and at time of writing Alien Noire is the only keyword phrase.

For believers, sleuths noticed that a WhoIs search shows the website is registered to The Collective, a faction mentioned in the sequel’s early reveal. It also mentioned Tahlequah, Oklahoma, where original prey protagonist Tommy lived. The “alien” writing on the site also bears marked similarities to that seen in teasers and demos of Prey 2 before the project went silent.

Prey 2 was announced by Bethesda in March 2011 but after a few media blasts it went completely dark. There were rumours of the project’s cancellation and trouble between publisher and developer, but Bethesda has always maintained that it simply needed more time and would update the public when it jolly well felt like it.

“Tommy needs your help.”
I’d say it has to be Prey 2, unless they are trying to mislead us…

Or the hoax starter knows we’ll see that and get our hopes up haha.

i thought they specifically said tommy wouldnt be appearing in Prey 2?

I thought that they said you wouldn’t play as Tommy in Prey 2, not that he wouldn’t appear. Then again things can change in development so maybe he is now more prominent in the game.

maybe you gotta help tommy in prey 2? :p

I desperately hope so. I loved the look of prey 2.

Tommy was to be an NPC, maybe even enemy of some kind (or at least not an ally).

Fingers crossed and hope its prey 2.

Yep – Tommy is/was a prominent NPC.
