What would you like to see next from the Oddworld team?

Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath

Developers Oddworld Inhabitants, creators of the decidedly ‘so cult it’s verging on mainstream’ Oddworld games, are in the market for a new Oddworld game. But rather than just developing something on a whim, they’ve taken it to the adoring fans, asking the age old question: What would you like to see us working on next?

With 70% of the titles in the poll completely new games, or at least new sequels, it is perhaps unsurprising that “something on mobile” is coming last with an exciting zero percent. It is a little surprising though, that an HD remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus is leading the pack with 25% of votes. Well, sharing the lead, I should say, with “something completely new on Oddworld”.

If you are a fan off the Oddworld games and would like to have your say, be sure to add your vote to the pile. There doesn’t seem to be a closing date on the votes, so if you’re really passionate, I’d just get on it right away if I were you.

I voted for Sligstorm. No offense to JAW, but I don’t think they’re capable of the next big Oddworld game from a visual standpoint. It’s too small a team. I would really love to see what happens next with Munch’s Exoddus or Squeak’s Oddyssey, but I think Oddworld needs to get a bit farther off of the ground financially before that can happen.

Abe’s Exoddus HD might be viable if the Oddyssey remake works out for them, but I would really love to see something new.

A game lol

Exoddus was the best of the 3 in my opinion, although my brother prefers Munch’s Oddysee (which is also much shorter).

Having replayed through the first 2, Exoddus’s quicksaving makes the game SO much easier and quicker, whereas Oddysee is a real tough cookie even with a guide telling me where the secret locations are it’s still taking me ages (e.g. start of the game you have to do 5 secret areas without dying, and right before you roll off the cliff there’s also a LOT).

Boo! I want Munch’s Exoddus. It’s coming in near the end. T_T Something completely new I guess is ok though i’d also like them to release Munch’s Oddysee HD on PC.

Either way nice to see them return to Oddworld after leaving game making and apparently completely failing in their time away from Oddworld.

I agree with phylum, the series needs a strong financial footing before they attempt something new. Get a few more HD remakes out the door, rekindle fan interest, get some new fans in the process and then go big or go home.

A Stranger’s wrath had the WORST choice in lead voice actor (how on Earth did that voice line up with that body) and was very clunky and almost static in its platforming. I am sure that if they nailed those two, a 3D platformer would be great for the industry.

:)…
