The Skyrim ‘Interesting NPC’ mod will make walking through Whiterun interesting again

If you’ve ever played Skyrim for more than five consecutive minutes, you’ll quickly have noticed that there are approximately seven different NPCs in the game, all of them are voiced by the same person, and they all look like identical twins. Okay, okay, I’m exaggerating for comedic effect but the point is: there really isn’t a lot of variety in Skyrim’s NPCs.

So what’s the solution? The Skyrim Interesting NPCs mod, which has already been downloaded over 70,000 times, adds over 100 new NPCs to the game — with 90 of them being voiced by professional actors, too. And they sound pretty good! Take a listen in this video below (it’s fifteen minutes long, but you get the idea). There’s 20,000 new lines of dialogue, so presumably they chose to record only a sampling of them below.

I was looking at this mod a few days ago..I might have to download.
I think the biggest flaw of Skyrim though [and most Open world RPGs] is that
the “BIG” Capital cities feel like a side street.

White run is so small you can run from the gate to the door of Dragonsreach in just over a minute.

Need a mod to fix this soon..

cities are a good size in skyrim keep in mind the outlying area around whiterun is part of the city.

Also solitude is pretty massive etc

silenceoz,
The Truman Effect. It is the one thing that pisses me off about ES games in that everything only exists for you and everything will happen for you and you alone.

The façades are just façades…

spooler,

Solitude is tiny…

you can never be pleased can you.

You are right about the quality of the VA

some sound really professional, while some sound like they are straight from a fandub of an anime

the size of the cities is fun considering they had to make it run on this gen consoles. Im really looking for to next gen elder scroll games…we’ll see some big changes then i think! :D

Is it possible to get this mod onto the on.net mirror?

And this is why Bethesda will never be motivated to put in that extra but of effort to polish the rougher aspects of their Elder Scrolls games. Why do the work when people make mods to do the work for you?

Not that I appreciate seeing people makes mods like this of course – mods are the lifeblood of computer gaming that consoles simply cannot match. But it does mean developers can be a bit lazy at times and have the mod community fix (or “fix”) deficiencies the paid developers were unable to do themselves.

kunodiablo,

Did…. did you just suggest the developers of Skyrim were lazy? Really?

You failed to notice the mind-bogglingly staggering amount of content in the game?

Not only is it one of the most content-packed worlds ever brought to life in a single player experience, they went to the considerable effort of making it mod-friendly and releasing usable mod tools. And they’re lazy?

Wow. Just wow.

lol i know ay, what a silly thing to say. Even if you don’t like skyrim, the amount of detail and effort that went into making it is mind boggling!

This is why I hate the Internet.

I said “a bit lazy AT TIMES”. Read the whole damn thing. You fucking idiots.

As aligray mentioned, it would be nice to get this in the files section.
