Star Wars: The Old Republic Makeb

Star Wars: The Old Republic is getting its first expansion later this year, and it’s set on the planet Makeb. The expansion, which will cost $10 for subscribers or $20 for free players, adds five new levels, more content, and brings the game’s first same-sex romances which are, for the moment, only available on Makeb. And it looks a bit like this…

Still one of the most played MMORPGs on the market.

Hell as long as there’s someone to group with at any time does it even matter? The open-world PvP became tedious after a while anyway (getting camped on Hoth by groups of Sith, not fun) especially on the neutral planet and being killed on freaking quest NPCs.

won’t bring me back. I feel like they are milking even their monthly subscription players. What decent content have they released since going f2p? not much. The 1st major decent content in over a year and they are going to even charge their monthly subscribers.

drakonas1970,

Pretty much my stance on the matter. I cancelled my sub because it really isn’t subscription worthy. I’d like to play it here and there with the F2P model and would even pay for some of the microtransactions, but the way they have the F2P set up it just isn’t worth it.

I like the guild wars 2 model personally, you get access to everything and pay simply for cosmetics, unrequired conveniences and non-combat efficiency. I’d still enjoy the model even if I couldn’t trade gold for gems.

If the voice overs are supposedly the main money sink of SWTOR, they should be something you buy access to. Most players skip them anyway yet are paying subs to support something they don’t even use in the game.

Warzones, purple gear, flashpoints should be unlimited in F2P (or at least have upgradable access to unlimited WZ/FP). In a star wars themed game, they could make shitloads from star wars themed cosmetics alone.
