SimCity beta now accepting registrants

simcity

I know it’s fashionable to talk about how Will Wright is no longer with EA Maxis and social elements turn everything they touch into a slimy mix of blood, ash and hatred, but SimCity looks totally boss so let’s save it for the comments section and instead just get really excited about the upcoming beta.

Head on over to the game’s website to register your interest in participating. You’ll need to have logged in with your Origin ID – I know, I know – and after that there is a heck of an NDA to scroll past and complain about – see, this is already fun. After that, you’ll have to fill in a short survey – it wants to know if you played competitor CitiesXL and even Farmville, of all things – and how long you can devote to testing.

The beta itself will run from January 25 – January 28, with sign-ups closing at 2:00AM GMT on January 21. If you’ve already registered, you’re automatically in the running, and the content on offer will demonstrate a “one hour slice of the game”, apparently.

Done and done

^ Same.

I’m all up in this shit. Can’t wait for March.

Done. I wounder how many people are going to get in to this.

wooo fingers crossed.

any chance of GON securing any keys in case we miss out? :D

is anyone getting the game on origin, or waiting till steam release?

kinistoniscool,

Um…. its an EA game, and it is tied in to Origin with the online stuff. You know, like TF2, DoW2, and other games are tied in to Steam.

So, in short, its not going to be on STEAM.

I’d be very surprised if it shows up on Steam.

I’ve already pre-ordered… back a couple of days after the pre-orders were available last year… I’ve never pre-ordered a game so far from release in my life… It’s going to be awesome.

Is there any cheap way to get the new game? The pre-order price on origin (atleast a month ago) is drink-spitting absurd

coatsy22,

Yes, yes there is.

WoWHD (UK Bsed): http://www.wowhd.com.au/games/simcity-limited-edition-pc/dp/31392803#bc=fd3a

OzGameShop (UK Based): http://www.ozgameshop.com/pc-games/simcity-limited-edition-game-pc

Mighty Ape (NZ Based with Aus warehouses) http://www.mightyape.com.au/product/PC-Games/SimCity-Limited-Edition/19759110/

Out of those 3 sites, Mighty ape has the best shipping speed wise, why WOW HD has got free shipping. I think Oz also dose free shipping, but I can’t remember.

With Ubisofts refusal to drop their shitty anti piracy nonsense, I’ll be doing just that.

$50 here – http://www.g2play.net/store/SimCity-EA-Origin-Key.html

They also have the limited edition if that’s your bag…

I’m sure there are other sites selling it at similar prices, I wouldn’t get directly through Origin though!

What dose Ubisoft have to do with an EA game?…..

Applied, anyone else stoked it’s Beta-ing on the Aussie Day long weekend?

Really in two minds about this. Want to beta so I can get my hands on the game and contribute feedback from decades of Sim City or wait for that giddy anticipation of installing a brand spanking new full Sim City game on it’s release.

Yeah, well, think of this more as a demo. you will only be able to play for an hour at a time. BUT you can make as many citys as you like. So, it will be interesting…

It will be Jagji, but I think that I will hold off accessing it and leave the game as a surprise for it’s release. Looked forward to another Sim City for a long time, so far it looks great, going to have to put myself into further “Sim City blackout mode” and just not read anything about it until I have a released game. Sim City is one of those games to savour, I think I can let it age a while longer :)

Just registered yesterday

Yes please! :)

Very keen to get into this beta.
