Path of Exile’s open beta is now live, get in on the ground floor of this great ARPG

Path of Exile

By on January 24, 2013 at 3:29 pm

Path of Exile is New Zealand’s answer to Diablo — a free-to-play online ARPG built from the ground-up by hardcore Diablo fans who just wanted to make the perfect monster-killing loot machine. And as of right now, the open beta has kicked off and you can get in on the ground floor.

As of right now, their patching servers are under extreme load as every man and his dog tries to update the game, so please be patient and hit up the official site to log in and download your client.

If you’re a previous Path of Exile player, please note that all your characters have been reset back to level 1. You may also want to familiarise yourself with the full patch notes, which can be found here.

Check out the open beta trailer to see why Path of Exile deserves your attention, or read our massive interview to get a feel for why these guys are throwing down the gauntlet to Blizzard and Runic.

Been playing it for about an hour now, seems fun, currently getting better latency to the US server than the SG server (I can also understand more of the chat lol, damn my only speaking English). I’m not sure it’s really the game for me, but I’ll give it a decent shot.

Remembered this no more than 5 minutes before this post came up. Eagerly downloading now. Hoping to fill the void Torchlight 2 has left after I finished it.

As Tim mentioned their servers are getting hit pretty hard. We will have a mirror up for the open beta in the next 6-24 hours. It really is that unpredictable at the moment when it comes to download speed.

Hang tight :)

Can we get a link on this page when it’s ready Cas ?

They’re definitely getting hit hard, my download speed is spiking between 1MB/s and 30KB/s. I don’t mind downloading overnight tonight anyway, its not like its taking up all of my bandwidth =P

25% into it anyway.

Disregard.

Yeah, tomorrow morning I’ll throw it up. I can’t sit here and wait about any longer. Its only 4% done. After an hour. Will be up after lunch probably once I package it together.

It was spiking weirdly, luckily I had downloaded it yesterday so was able to get everything except this latest patch downloaded.

my ping is 200 on singapore severs and i’m on node

what’s the best server to go on?

GeneralHerpes.

jonlee,

SEA link is broken ATM, ETA is 2-3 weeks.

Every ISP is effected.

I’d be loving it if MY internet would download at faster than 20KB/sec…. didn’t realize there would be a 2GB patch today.

Bought it a couple of days ago and am loving every bit of it. Even though i’m sure everyone is over the comparisons, its like a less polished D3 – but thats a good thing if you get me?
