Origin having an Australia Day sale, 50+ titles down to $9.99

Origin Logo

As the title says, EA Origin Store are having an Australia Day sale where, until January 29 (Tuesday, for those of you playing along at home) you can grab a bunch of titles for $9.99 each.

Games on sale include Dragon Age: Origins, Awakening, Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 1 and 2, Mass Effect 1 and 2, Battlefield 1942, 2142, BC2, BC2: Vietnam, and even games like Alice, Bulletstorm and Spore. Check out the full list of titles right here.

For some reason both Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age: Origins have Digital Deluxe Editions priced at the same price as the regular vanilla editions, so if you are looking to buy one of them, grab the Deluxe one instead! Weird.

The fact that they’re even charging US$10 for Spore is offensive.

You should look at the price it’s marked down from…

The fact that people still use Origin is offensive.

I lost 5 games when i deleted that of crap software… I don’t think EA realise that I don’t want 5 different game providers on my computer. I want one that has everything… and i’ve already invested too much money in Steam to even consider Origin, plus the fact that EA don’t bother to list any titles they didn’t produce, its an inferior product… Say what you want about steam, it has a long list of games you can get on it, and is normally cheaper…

I saw that. It’s like retail pricing, hilarious.

Competition is the foundation of Capitalism.

I can tell you know if steam didn’t have competition, ho boy. At least GMG and GOG provide it.

Some of the prices are pretty good, especially post-Christmas, but pre-Christmas was much cheaper (ME1+2 for $10, Crysis 1+2 for $10, BF2 I got with the Pizza Hut deal about a decade ago for $30 with 2 large pizzas and drinks).

i think they probably do realise it, but it’s such a terrible argument. What does it matter if you’ve ‘invested’ X amount into Steam?

Origin only have their own stuff at the moment sure. Steam started exactly the same way I believe. I’m also of the understanding Origin will be expanding their catalogue in the coming year.

I find it a bit hypocritical when EA can provide Steam keys for certain titles via Origin yet refuse to sell their newer titles on Steam.

Also, most of the titles listed in that sale have doubled up on DRM when bought through Origin (SecuROM/SolidShield on top of Origin). If EA think they’re gonna get any sales of those titles from me while the second DRM layer is there, they’re living in a fantasy world.

I bloody miss those. Its like hey I was going to get a pizza anyway, so a video game is a plus. Its unfortunate that it’d be associated with obesity though, freaking sucks.. there’s nothing better than a Pizza, a drink and a video game.. sure the fuck beats Doritos and Mountain Dew, who the fuck can survive on that. If they could make pizza not associated with it being fattening junk food then I’m sure we might see a return to that sort of deal. Either way though, it was shocking to see EA do something like that back in the day… I doubt they’d be that generous nowdays.

Start putting games on sale for $2.50 like Steam and we can talk, Origin. At least this $10 sale is a lot better than their $50 (!) sale a while back.

I used to pick up games from cereal boxes. THPS2 on PC was one such title.

If I could get BF3 for 10 bucks and premium for 20 bucks on steam I would get premium in an instant .

Origin sucks . Missing so many features Steam has. No AU/NZ content servers with origin. Overpriced AU rip off pricing with origin.

Origin does have one thing Steam doesn’t have…..integrated live streaming to Twitch.tv.

You mean like most of the games on Steam? HOLY SHIT! A SHOCKER!

Neither Alex or Darth mentioned anything about steam. Perhaps you should learn to read instead of being a douche.

Does anyone else recall something about sales on games cheapening intellectual property or something like that? Now who said that again???

Oh boy, I’m excited! Saw this post and went to go buy Dragon Age Origins DE.

First try to pay through pay-pal. Oh an error? My transaction didn’t go through?
Try 2 more times, same thing. So i give up.

An hour later 3 payments to EA for dragon age get charged to my card and i didn’t get my game.

Dealing with EA live chat and trying to get a refund through paypal is going to be fun!

spitfiresson,

Same thing happened to a mate of mine. Got charged twice and didn’t get his game…

spitfiresson,

I don’t trust EA with Paypale. So I always use direct card.

Picked up Darkspore and The Saboteur, so should be fun.

I am not being one. I am simply pointing out that Origin is not the only one doing it, and people should ether hate all of them or none of them. There the same shit in different colors. Who cares witch one you use. Just be glad your able to buy the dam game for 10 bucks. FFS.

jagji,

I’m definitely regretting trying to keep my credit card details from EA if this is how badly they support paypal. Never had anything this stupid when buying games through paypal on other sites.

I’m still waiting for my game or any confirmation email and it’s coming up to 18hrs now. I’ve talked to 2 people on live chat who have both said wait another 3-4hrs haha.

It feels like this is punishment for not just giving them my credit card details up front.

Origin die, then we can talk.
