Valve has gleefully announced that DOTA 2, its sequel to the original MOBA, has managed to tot up 100,000,000 matches played. DOTA 2 now attracts 3 million unique users a monthw hich Valve describes as the community “bolossoming into a beautiful flower”. Ha! Ha! Well, there’s less name calling than in League of Legends, I guess.
In other DOTA 2 news, an update is available with an interesting new feature – Least Played Mode. This option dumps you into the most unpopular kinds of games, which should mean you end up trying new things and learning new skills – as well as helping to tip the balance so other modes end up highlighted eventually. If patch notes make you hot and bothered, by all means view the latest update in its entirety.
DOTA 2 is still in closed beta; bug your Steam friends for an invite.

I think you mean “month which”
to be honest, despite this whole “the dota community is evil” facade, I find the much greater issue are all the idiots who refuse polite advice, call mid when they have no idea how to play, disconnect if they die early game, and so on and so forth.
many experienced players are prepared to be tutors because its in their best interest to help “the slack” in order to win the game.
Doesn’t least played mode put you with the least popular heroes? Pretty sure all the game modes in dota 2 are the same, only differences are how heroes are picked.
I have 13 copies of this to give out. That’s right, 13.
yea every couple months i get another 3 keys it’s nigh impossible to get rid of them at this point
Agreed I have 13 copies as well sigh. If you can be bothered to trade them try that.
10 copies here. Wish it’d hurry up and release so my inventory would stop getting filled with all these invites. XD They clearly want as many people playing as possibly so why don’t they go open beta assuming they haven’t ported everything over yet?
Out of curiosity have they released any new heroes yet? I mean Dota 2 exclusive ones. I’m curious what a hero using the new tech would be like for the game rather than the ones that had to be built around the War3 engine’s limitations.
one thing like this I saw in HoN was vector skills. so for example, a skill that makes some sort of line is created by clicking a point then dragging away, yielding two points that the skill can be drawn through.
I’m not sure if any heroes have this, or there are any unique dota2 heroes, but I think that could be something that the new engine would handle.
That’s in LoL too. Surely it would be in DoTA2?
Yeah I love those skills. Viktor is one of my favorite champions because that laser is so satisfying to use. ^_^
To think the game is still somewhat closed. This is going to be incredible once it lands as a free game.
