Crytek and EA “aren’t enforcing” SimCity-style bug reporting ban in Crysis 3 EULA

Crysis 3

One of our community members has spotted that the EULA for the Crysis 3 beta test contains a passage identical to the one in the EULA for the SimCity beta, specifically the one which allows EA to ban you from all their games if you fail to report a bug.

SimCity‘s EULA has since been changed, but the one in Crysis 3 remains the same. Speaking on Twitter, Crytek confirmed that it was released as part of the beta before the EULA was changed for SimCity.

“It was baked into the Beta before we realized it had the ‘Bug Ban’ clause. We aren’t enforcing that,” wrote Crytek on Twitter, before adding, “We’ll be releasing a blog post about that soon, but for now rest assured we aren’t banning players for finding bugs.”

I gave them a poor review of the game(SimCity beta), wonder if they will ban me cause I said there was bug in my report but didn’t report them all(mostly a few way to just bug out the camera)? Oh well I have lost faith in EA of late and this was no exception.

Wow. You completely failed to read the article you commented on. I’m sure EA are lamenting the loss of such a hawk-eyed bug squasher.

I do apologize this was more of a general comment in regards to a number of the EA related articles of late.

Mmmm, the last couple of articles have been about this bug report/ban thing NOT being enforced though. Out of interest, why did you give the Simcity beta a poor review?

ooshp,

He is clearly referencing the guy who recently gave feedback on the feedback forums and got banned.
