BioShock Infinite posts PC Q&A session, discusses DRM, min spec and more

BioShock Infinite

Fresh from announcing their impressive PC support last week, Irrational have followed-up with a PC Q&A session with Technical Director Chris Kline, covering DRM, what minimum spec cards are supported, widescreen mode support, and other things.

In the answers, Kline reveals that Windows XP is not supported, but that the game will run at the full 120 Hz if your graphics card is capable of rendering that fast and you’ve disabled frame rate locking. Kline also claims that Irrational have done “a lot of work” on widescreen support and speaks of his confidence that everyone will have a great widescreen experience.

Regarding DRM, Kline mentions that the only DRM present is the standard Steam restrictions (once-off online activation) and that Steam Offline Mode will be supported once the game is registered to your account.

Good. XP needs to GTFO ASAP (especially since Windows 7 is such a good OS).

I don’t know what to make of these questions. It looks like they are all essentially “I did not read the system requirements, can I put the PC version it in my Xbox machine?” or “Is this Steamworks?” times ten. This game better have a modified UI for mouse input. This goes without saying, but there are so many games where the developers forget people on the PC use a mouse.

PalZer0,

Ok ok, whilst Win7 is a solid OS (using it now, love it), Xp is still a good OS that can hold its own against Win7. Few extra features, but XP has XPAnitSpy for stoping M$ from using back doors :P

On topic, sounds pretty standard other than 120hz, and steam is a pretty cool guy.

whiterazor,

Its a shame that this is true, really is…

They never said they did a lot of work on widescreen support, they said they did a lot of work supporting a wide range of different resolutions and aspect ratios, there’s a difference. I doubt ‘widescreen support’ would be hard given consoles are widescreen.
