War for the Overworld could be the Dungeon Keeper sequel you’ve always wanted

War for the Overworld

A reader by the name of Timmy_Tim (good name, that) has written in to alert us to War for the Overworld, a Kickstarter-drive for a Dungeon Keeper-esque underground lair management simulator. It’s currently at £84,057 of its £150,000 goal, and with 12 days to go there’s a good chance it could make it with a bit of pushing. Check out the video below and then hit up the Kickstarter page for more, including a playable demo!

There was a game released simliar to this called “Dungeons”. I wonder if this one will be any better.

Dungeons was absolutely horrible. The last thing they would do as true dungeon keeper fans is repeat that. They seem to be trying to make it as true to the original as they can without infringing on the dungeon keeper copywrite.

It looks really awesome, I backed it back near the start and really hope it gets funded.

Dungeons wasn’t ment to be a dungeon keeper clone. Don’t know why fanboys thought it was when the dev’s clearly said it wasn’t but rather more of a tribute.

Pledged…..yeah boy

A very nice article right there!

I really hope this successfully kickstarts as the demo itself already shows some good potential. Thanks Tim, thanks games.on.net

And don’t worry it will be nothing like Dungeons gameplay wise. Couldn’t be anymore truer to the DK series. With some background knowledge you may take note that ‘War for the Overworld’ was the title for Dungeon Keeper 3 that was cancelled back at 2000.

The Dev’s only started saying this after release. All the pre-release media was claiming it was a true sequal for dungeon keeper, and only stopped once the game came out and it was blatantly not DK, and more akin to a theme park sim.

Speaking of Total Biscuit, here’s his video covering the pre-alpha demo War for the Overworld – New Dungeon Keeper game (Pre-Alpha)

Oh hell yes! I was contemplating getting the originals from GoG, but think I will wait for this instead.
