Riot bans League of Legends pro player for “persistent toxic behaviour”

Team Dignitas

Riot are taking their attempt to clean up the online gaming scene seriously — so seriously in fact that they’re not afraid to ban even high profile professionals.

“The decision to impact someone’s career is not one we make lightly,” reads the forum thread, “which is why this is tough news to deliver. Unfortunately, our Tribunal recently was forced to permanently ban a pro player as a response to his persistent toxic behavior, and after closely reviewing the individual’s case and history, the Riot eSports team has issued a ruling that follows this post.”

“IWillDominate has been in Tribunal nine times and punished eight times, including the most recent permanent ban,” states the ruling. “He has a persistent record of in-game harassment, verbal abuse, offensive language and negative attitude. Despite the punishments and official warnings, his harassment score has risen more than 30% from early August to the present date, placing him at the top of the list of North American pro players and among the worst 0.7% of all North American players.”

IWillDominate is a member of Team Dignitas, who were pulled up in August for colluding with a rival team to rig the finals match in MLG Raleigh.

It’s nice to see this happening. League of Legends community is bad enough, the last thing you want are the community role models to be a heap of shit to leave bad influence to new players and esports observers.

Outstanding, I support this kind of move in any online community.

Yeah there’s a reason I don’t play PvP all that often, the community. Good to see Riot are trying to help.

This is a good move by Riot. This kind of behavior is pathetic enough in public servers of other games good to see someone doing something about it.

As a League player, I agree. Its good to see this happen, as it shows that, even if you do make it to the pro tornys, you can still get banned.

Its 2 things.

First, its Riot being Riot, and cleaning up there game. Second, it should act as a scare to all the other Pro players, and ranked players in general.

Yeah I get disgusted with the general attitude in LoL, admittedly though once a flamewar starts I’ll be swinging with full force myself…

But definitely a good move. Every game I’ve played where the teammates have worked together, and had friendly banter with your own team and the opposition has been that much more enjoyable than some guy blaming everyone else then flaming for the rest of the match. Problem is there doesn’t seem to be any way of ensuring the really annoying people get the banstick :/

Although I don’t play LoL, that sort of stuff shouldn’t happen in a competition level in any game.

The bloke sounds like a total doucher to be honest.

Here here.

They are certainly not living up to their namesake with those kinda of actions and behaviour. The whole team should be banned for their collution.
