Perspective is a mind-bending FPS/2D platformer hybrid: download it here

The game Perspective comes to us from the students at DigiPen, whose alumni include the team behind the breakout hit Portal. It’s a 3D FPS, but with a twist: your point of view is used to line up 2D platforms, which allow a 2D character on the wall to traverse around the room. It’s difficult to explain, so here’s a video:

Grab it here from our file library and give it a go.

Hurt my head playing some of these as the game went on. Not the longest game, but enough to showcase what can be done and opens up a whole new world for game mechanics.

As does portal for many people.

Digipen, release sensible games! Although it is fantastic to see that indies are leading the charge on games that focus on actual gameplay mechanics rather than having the latest in visuals with gameplay from the late 90′s.

Omg this game blew my mind over and over again. Some of the digipen games i’ve played in the past like Narbacular Drop and Tag were clever and had unique game mechanics but this one was the only one that blew my mind while playing. Everytime I found a new interaction I was like ‘NO WAY!’ and that ending! Anyone who’s finished the game knows what i’m talking about rofl. Can’t recommend this enough. I’m not sure how they’d take these mechanics and make a complete game out of them but this game in itself was amazing!

I was about to post “meh” in the comments because that is what the trailer says to me, but after reading your outburst I may give it a go…

I just finished it then, the ending was so awesome I loved it. Play it though just for the ending it’s only like a 30 min long game.
