Duke Nukem 3D going out free on GOG.com to kick off game sale

Duke Nukem 3D

If you’re one of the six billion people on earth who apparently weren’t too impressed with Duke Nukem Forever, it’s time to relive the glory days with a depressingly small 35MB download of Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition from GOG.com.

The giveaway marks the launch of their 2012 DRM-FREE HOLIDAY SALE, which is worthy of the all-caps and has 474 different titles on sale from now until January 3rd.

Top sellers on the front page include The Witcher 2 for a puny $12, RollerCoaster Tycoon for $3, Total Annihilation for $3, and just $11.92 for a bundle of Bullfrog Favourites including Populos 1-3, Dungeon Keeper 1-2, Syndicate, Theme Hospital, and Magic Carpet.

Plus, free Duke Nukem 3D. Can’t complain about that.

Oh I’ve already seen my fair share of young, entitled, generation Y’ers on the steam forums complaining about the “bAd Grafikz” and lack of steam redeemability…
Also seen a bunch of people refusing this free giveaway, with the intention to buy it when it comes to Steam (after some recent announcement or registry entry).

Yeah I don’t understand people sometimes..

Rollercoaster Tycoon and Theme Hospital here I come! +Duke of course :D

Those plus Dungeon Keeper where basically my favourite games growing up.

nice, still waiting for them to release Civ2 though.

Why? -.-

Surely if you want to be old school elitist you’d play the original, and if you want the best Civ experience you’d play Civ 4 BTS or Civ 5 depending on preference. Surely.

Surely?

ooshp,

Your argument is invalid because Civ2 had FMV actors. This alone is worth $5.

depressingly small 35MB download

Try putting it all on floppy disks like I had it back in the day, waiting to unzip 20+ disks makes it depressingly large.

Use this to improve the engine to something a bit more modern.

hell yeah, great graphics mods for duke 3d! the texture pack is pretty solid :D

stoibs,

So you are one of *those* people ey…
The winging coming from you is just as painful.

How about you get with the times and realise things will ALWAYS change in the world.

Good work generalising by the way. I didn’t know everyone that isn’t a gen Y was so perfect. They are so perfect that all of them are the exact same in every way shape and form.
*slow clap for you, Sir*

This is the weirdest flame war ever. Let’s all go play RollerCoaster Tycoon
