Valve’s developers have posted on the official DotA 2 forums overnight to reveal that Australian servers are on the way.

Posting on the developer forums, Valve dev milton revealed that “The equipment for our Australian (not Austrian) datacenter has just arrived in Sydney.”

“It will be a few weeks to get this racked and configured. But we should be up and running by January 2013.”

0_O Only reason I play HoN is because of AU servers.

Oh noes darknode, they got you :O

Damn it they make a strong case for me to now learn and play Dota

Planetside 2, DotA 2, anyone know why we’re getting the server love now? Was it the constant complaining or has bandwidth prices finally gone down? :)

Datacenter pricing slowly becoming a big more sane.

Great news; I felt the game worked pretty great on US servers, should be even better on Aus!

This would automatically make me better at the game … right?

I actually uninstalled DOTA 2 last night and I’m never planning on reinstalling because it’s a dated POS.

Playing on the Singapore node already gets me a steady 100ms ping for DOTA2. This is excellent news, being able to play with maybe 15ms. Maybe I will finally be able to play Puck properly =) Much loves to Valve for this.

It’s disgraceful that Riot still make LOL players play on US servers with 200ms-300ms, they’re too stingy to deploy servers here. And none of the old players can play on Garena without spending another thousand hours grinding out runes and champions again. The tech should be available to freely select servers like how DOTA2 does it.

aetherfox,

To be fair getting Aussie servers for games is only an extremely recent thing, yes it would be nice to get Aussie LoL servers but it’s too soon to call it a disgrace. Also 200-300ms ping keeps getting cited but except for congestion issues i’ve always had around 170ping which is pretty playable.

Yes its ‘playable’, but when you are playing at a higher level, that 170ms will get you killed, miss a skill shot or get an item off to late ect.

I’m well aware of that though in most circumstances playing at that ping I would assume one would have gotten into the habit of casting spells etc in advance to compensate.

Put it this way. Two players of exact skill level vs each other with the same heroes, one has 180ms, the other 40ms. 40ms guy will always win.

If you get ganked from the bush, how do you cast your spell earlier to compensate? Seeing as he is already out of the bush, but you haven’t seen it yet because you are behind what is really happening.

I seem to get about 130ms up to 170ms normally in games on SEA. Head to US west or any were else and the game is unplayable for me hitting about 200ms up to 320ms at times.

Good to see they are setting up some servers!

its jan, they lied. BURN THEM ALL
