Aftermath out today for Battlefield Premium owners on PC

Battlefield 3 Aftermath

By on December 6, 2012 at 7:44 pm

Battlefield Premium owners on PC today enjoy the release of the Aftermath DLC, after PS3 owners have been enjoying it for a week. Aftermath adds four new urban maps, a new game mode, and new assignments.

As EA would tell it, “with operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives. Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.” What they aren’t telling you is that the game features earthquakes happening while you play. Oh, and that the Markaz Monolith map contains the shoes of Faith from Mirror’s Edge.

I’m still downloading the update. Been going for 2 days now at less than 100K. EA need to increase their bandwidth speeds for the update servers if they want Origin to compete with Steam. My Steam updates will finish faster than the BF3 update.

Crossbows.

That is all.

Same. I just opened it up. Getting instant 2.4+MB/s.

Very pretty maps and super fun. The new scavenger game type is a blast too.

LOVE the new maps.

Currently downloading it for Xbox also. Premium would have to be the best DLC release that’s ever been.

Knew an exp pack came out . Origin since it updates from overseas without local AU content servers like AU has , is saying its going to take about 50 hours to download 3 gig while im shaped currently . Really wish I could apply an update without installing the exp pack which I didnt buy.

Origin still lacks a lot of great features that steam offers

The maps are cool, and I love the empahsis on close quarters battles without the painfully large maps. But the game itself just seems to have died in the arse. Few servers which are populated. Teams are never balanced. It feels harder and harder to like BF3 nowadays. I guess if I stuck with the game a lot more and continued to refine my skills I may be able to enjoy myself. A shame cause I got the premium membership which I’d like to make the most of.

ralphwiggum,

Doesn’t like big maps. Plays a battlefield game. This is why we can’t have nice things and end up with call of duty everywhere. There’s already a plethora of games that are modern infantry based in close combat. Battlefield is meant to have big maps and contains an entire battlefield in a single map, instead of being confined to a tiny area. Hence the name. In 1942 you could walk for 10 minutes only to die and have to do it again. This is how it should be.

I play hardcore mode and there’s a decent bunch of hardcore servers at the moment, which lately has had pretty low numbers. But normal mode always seems to be pretty heavily populated whenever I take a gander.

Also, it’s Battlefield, Battlefield for the most part = big maps.

There is also the helmet from Crysis 3 in the Epicentre map.

Ma bad its the DEAD space 3 helmet.
