Save yourself over 6GB of quota by downloading the PlanetSide 2 full client directly from our file library! Naturally this is only quota-free for iiNet Group customers, but other Australians can of course always enjoy our high-speed, stable downloads which are clinically proven* to cure hair loss.
If you’re still not sure of PlanetSide 2, know this: 1) It’s free to play. 2) It’s got an Australian server. Right here, in Australia. 3) We called it “a dangerously addictive MMOFPS that won’t break the bank”. And we never lie.**
* Not really.
** Except about the hair loss.

It’s a breath of fresh air in the FPS space. Wholeheartedly approve!
And when I DL’d last night from Steam it was 11gigs, I presum you has a zipped version?
Weird, when I DL’d it from steam it was only around 7 gigs.
I didn’t really like it, almost a BF3 clone with extra lag. I’ll see how it goes in the future, though. Being F2P, it could bring me back after the launch / lag issues are fixed.
highly recommend it
i care see that people who solo and do their own thing will not enjoy it….you need to join an outfit or squad to fully enjoy it
The Australian server is awesomely kaput.
Hooray for open betas!
A complex territorial combat game with up to 2,000 players per game is a BF3 clone?
Hah
Is this the standalone or steam files? Would prefer steam files but either quota free is great. :D
Who is froodlemaster?
Because the files have your log on info in them!
thed,
Really? if so, lol.
Only played a little of this so far but didn’t really like it. Might give it another shot tonight.
game was too busy spent more time getting shot than being productive, I found being an engineer or medic to be a waste of time it felt kind of boring to me no one really ever advancing a front any where effective… maybe i just need to spend more time to learn the game
spooler,
The easiest way to get into it and feel like you’re contributing is to try and join a squad with a decent leader, I was in a few squads of randoms earlier and the squad leader chucked up a waypoint with most of us following his lead. Even better was that his squad waypoint matched the platoon waypoint, so for a few bases in a row we had 50+ guys all concentrating on the same area. Felt good.
exe3,
Fairly certain they’re standalone files, but I just unzipped into steam/steamapps/common, put a space in the folder name and launched it. It downloaded about 100MB then I was good to go.
So far I’ve found it to be not much more then laggy bore-fest of nothing much interesting.
I’m fairly certain that’s just the default login it comes with. I had the same thing when I first got the BETA files.
Beware!
Australian server is bugged and unstable (play button on character creation doesn’t work); the (free) grind is unbearably long and default equipment is horrible in comparison; vehicles and gun emplacements don’t always function as intended (randomly exploding or firing incorrect ammunition).
Wait a few weeks to let SOE sort out their flaws.
The AU server is now running pretty damn well after the team pulled consecutive 20 hour work days, during a public holiday, just to make sure the Aussie server was fixed. That kind of dedication is never seen for Aussie MMO servers, so I’m more than happy to show my gratitude by dropping some coin on this most excellent game.
pulviriza,
I tried the same thing but steam is saying I have to download the whole 7GB again! :(
That does make it sound a bit more grand, however, judging by my 6 or so hours of gameplay, it boiled right down to BF3. It’s just that you can change your ‘server’ by just deploying to a different hotspot rather than disconnecting and looking for a different challenge. The rest of the mechanics were eerily similar (q to spot, points to hold, classes, etc).
I can see it’s trying to be something new, I just didn’t feel it.
I tried putting into common folder and wants to download 3.4gb :/
all good, extracted it to its own folder then copied it into steam and now its only a 350mb update. win win!
Btw the Australian server is fixed as far as I can tell. Used to never be able to log in and play during peak evening time. Now it works fine (devs stayed up last night to troubleshoot during our peak time).
Am I the only one getting the feeling that this is DUST 514 just on PC and minus orbital bombardment?
I feel ashamed to say I have been enjoying PS2, it feels like SOE will never put DUST 514 on PC now it has a clone for the most part in PlanetSide 2!
Its gone? Not in the library anymore, Doesn’t come up from the link or a search.
