Sui Generis shows off realistic, physics-based combat in new trailer

Sui Generis is an RPG looking at getting crowd-funded through Kickstarter at the moment. It’s a good looking game, especially for an indie title, but what’s got people talking is the combat system. The following video will show you exactly what I mean: it’s a very realistic and weighty system. Combat feels heavy, blows knock the player back a realistic distance, things like that. When I read that it was full of ragdolling, I imagined flailing limbs and flying bodies all over the place, but when that ogre knocks you down, it feels very real, and looks very tight.

You really have to watch the trailer to see what I mean, it’s difficult to put into words. But once you watch the video, do go and check out their Kickstarter as it’s not doing so hot at the moment. With 10 days to go, it’s got about £62,000 of its £150,000 goal, as PCGamesN points out, it would be great to see just the development tools be released to see what the modding community could do.

So do pledge, if it sounds like something you could get into. Watch their pitch video, read the story, and watch the combat video below. And remember, you won’t actually be charged any money if the game doesn’t reach it’s goal, so don’t be shy if you’d like to see this one make it.

Looks great, exactly the kind of technology games should be placing emphasis on. Pledging now.

Saw this a few days ago.

It likes pretty good for how much is shown. The problem is that not much is shown. There is not much information on story, the world, dialogue, additional combat features, progression, equipment, game length, etc. On the Kickstarter it does show some details but it’s rather limited

It really only seems that I would be paying for the development of a game engine rather than a game. I would be more keen to support it if future plans were detailed.

The models dont seem balanced, reminds me of team america: http://youtu.be/BRrO9iy1wI0

I think that’s because they lack an animator at this time. The fact that the models actually need to balance is exciting.

realistic? You must’ve seen a different vid.

Looks more like they’re waving dusters around and the weapons seem to pass right through with almost no noticable resistance or recoil.

It actually looks like it has a lot of promise, though I’d rather a 1st person version. [like war of the roses style, but better and with an actual RPG type game.]

Looks like it could be pretty good. Make a RPG of it. Equip different weps that have different weights and so on.

Not certain about the game itself, but the world building tool looked pretty swish.
