EA are heralding the arrival of an Origin client update, with this latest one designed primarily to add Twitch.tv integration.
Hot on the heels of Twitch’s inclusion in the PlanetSide 2 client, Origin will support Twitch broadcasting directly from the Origin overlay once the accounts are connected.
The streaming support will include live feedback on how many people are watching your stream, as well as let you alter broadcast resolution, framerate and so on.
Also included in the update is the addition of non-Origin game shortcuts much in the same manner as Steam, and continued general client optimisation. EA are touting an improved Friends list that should “load faster and feel more responsive”, quicker general client load times, and more. Personally I’m hoping this will iron out the issue where I have to literally restart my computer to get my Friends list to correctly show people who I know are online (I know they’re online, because they tell me so. On Steam.)

The idea of integrating twitch into the overlay is actually a really nice idea.
Would be something I’d like to see on steam as I don’t play anything on Origin worthy of streaming.
Also probably need to make sure the overlays (origin and steam) crash less often than they already do. Many a time I’ve had overlays on both crash on me while trying to browse the net.
Have to say loaded ME3 up to give the MP a shot with this N7 day, the overlay has come quite a long way looks quite nice and sleek now, and integration with twitch is a great addition.
Yet another reason why I want NBN RIGHT BLOODY NOW.
Still waiting on an update that minimises Origin on start-up, and stops it opening a window whenever I run a game (you’re already running in the taskbar, why can’t you stay there?)
