Gaming giant IGN have received a leak from an inside source of dozens and dozens of images from Bungie’s upcoming project, Destiny — as well as an advertising agency-written roundup of how the game is to be marketed. “Our story begins seven hundred years from now in the Last City on Earth, in a Solar System littered with the ruins of man’s Golden Age,” begins the spiel.
“A massive, mysterious alien ship hangs overhead like a second Moon. No one knows where it came from or what it’s here for, but only that it’s our protector. Meanwhile, strange, alien monsters creep in from the edge of the universe, determined to take Earth and the Last City. We are young ‘knights’ tasked with defending the remains of humanity, discovering the source of these monsters and – eventually – overcoming it.”
Upon seeing the leak, Bungie confirmed that it was genuine, and reacted by posting a bunch of their own screenshots. Credit where credit’s due: head over to IGN and check out all the images.

It’s not, but I like to think that the moon space station is Durandal in his Jjaro dreadnought from the end of Marathon 2.
I hope the game is not too kiddie but at least it is coming to PC, at the moment anyway
looking at those images id say the art team loves starwars
“That’s no moon, it’s a space station!”
Also, the alien moon thingie reminds me (storywise) of the monoliths from 2001: A Space Odyssey, or more specifically the sequels where they protect the new species evolving on Titan by shooting down anything that comes near it.
That is a damn cool premise, imo.
It’s too bad that such plots rarely live up to the original premise, because it’s the very ambiguity and mystery which gives it power that people demand a plot resolve (destroy).
Ah, when will we understand that we aren’t in fact looking for answers to the premise, but rather an exploration of the tone and atmosphere it creates.
Evangelions?
why11123334,
Half agree. I think the explanation to the mystery can still be amazing if the mystery had been created around the explanation and not an explanation created to explain a mystery. If that makes sense.
Ambitious. Will be interesting to see if Bungie can shake off the (IMHO) lite storytelling efforts in Halo and make something a little meatier.
Love the concept art but Its a shame they can’t wait for next gen consoles to release this new IP.
My head hurts. <:
Weak minded fool! MWAHAHAHHAAHHA!!!!!
Other than the possibility of something being in space I see no similarities with Starwars at all. If that’s your go-to for “looks like” then I feel rather sad for the science fiction loving part of your brain.
Physics says: “NO!”
Just saying…
are you a physicist?
Well, that is a logical fallacy…
Two thoughts from that link…
Mmmm web dev’s that make pages actually work with different sized browser windows!
