Hey Steve, I didn’t really take any mad frame rate hits when fire was spreading everywhere. Stayed pretty close to 60 on my 670, no dramas!

You should read the post that linked: every story you experience, whether in a video game or on screen, will influence and strengthen some thought or resolve in your mind. The effects will be tiny but will be reinforced each time a similar story is told to you and, thus, absorbed.

I think it’s more the point that killing tigers is required if you want to upgrade certain characteristics of your character. Its the reward for doing it. Its the same view that the Australian classification system takes on drug use in games. Drug use is fine, but drug use plus reward => banned.

What happened to the page system? Also the comments section has a horizontal scroll bar for some reason, plays havoc when I middle click to scroll down. :S

You’re basically saying that most players are incapable of knowing the difference between an entity/scenario created in a game and reality.

Same with the other morally ambiguous scenarios.

eg. Fallout 1/2 allowed you to kill children, to pimp your spouse and generally be as disreputable as you wanted to (shy of sexual practices such as rape, bestiality etc). I love that a game gives you the option to be a truly horrible person, even if I rarely stray that way (I’m far too chaotic good). It allows you to role play rather than play the role dictated to you.

I completely respect your right to be offended and to offer criticism, even if I think you’re overreacting about something I consider inconsequential ie. the in game hunting of tigers. But you’re actually overreaching when you start trying to tell others what they are thinking. How many people after the playing the game do you think will actually want to hunt a tiger, let alone have the connections and money to make the desire a reality?

But as much as I love them I have to disagree with you caitsith01. But I guess it is a matter of perspective. To me they are not rewarding me for ‘slaughtering tigers’ or any endangered species for that matter, they are rewarding me for surviving in a game world where everything is dangerous.

In fact, I am extremely pleased to see tigers in the game, because ANYTHING with tigers is simply win. Although I do respect your argument and it is good to see that there are people out there who care about these beautiful creatures.

Brenna Hillier: Also for the one that replaces tigers with slightly less endangered animals to the great relief of this entire thread.
