45,000 people sign petition to help Grand Theft Auto V make its way to PC

You guys like PC gaming, right? And you’re probably excited about the next installment in the GTA franchise, right? Wouldn’t it be great if it were coming out on PC?

Well, don’t get your hopes up, but there is a petition going to try and convince Rockstar to release on PC. Started by one Mike Julliard, the petition has reached nearly 45,000 signatures in just over a week, with their first 10,000 overnight. While this is just under half of the required signatures, the counter has gone up nearly a thousand names in the time I’ve been writing. There is definitely some inertia behind this one.

But what will this mean? 100,000 people say they want a game, but will all this petition signing make a difference? Well, there’s a chance. As Julliard points out in his first post on the petition, Dan Houser has said that they will go wherever there is a market. “We can do what we want wherever there’s the appropriate business opportunity and chance to find a market.”

So while there is no official word as to whether Houser is watching with bated breath, there is every chance that this will be the impetus Houser and Rockstar need to release GTA V to PC. Either way, there is no hurt in trying, right? Houser isn’t going to see the petition and say, “WELL. No chance of GTA V on PC now, suckers!” So give it a shot, sign your name, be the change you want to see in the PC gaming world.

Hah, yeah that’ll work.

I have a proviso on this one. They need to stop using GameShield so secretively (or even stop using it altogether and just use Steamworks). I canned my Max Payne 3 preorder because they were so secretive with GameShield’s implementation.

Hell. They can link Steam accounts to their Social Club network via the “Sign in with Steam” feature (as used on steamprices.com).

1. Leave it off the PC list… create a stir in the community which in turn equals publicity…
2. Release the PC version later, as always planned and capitalize on the market who will be prepared to purchase not only the initial console release but the PC release down the track.
3. Bank your cash Gangster

Won’t they need a million signatures to hit the 100,000 purchasers mark?
lolz…

:D! I got a mention at the bottom lol.

Sure the chances are slim but it’s not the first game a petition has forced a release on PC.

This.

I really don’t understand why people have their knickers in a twist.

I’m more than happy not to support developers that don’t support the PC. *Won’t be signing*

Pretty dick move on Rockstars part. Why be bias towards consoles? Pirates won’t pirate the game if it is good, easy to run, and easily available.

bogus,

I think everyone’s freaking out because RDR was never released on PC.

Doesn’t bother me though as I’ll just get it on console. If they decide to release it on PC later I might get it for that too.

Im amased how everyone has forgotten just how rubbish the gta4 port was on release, it was basically acting as an emulator and so ran like an utter dog.

It’s only playable now because we finally have PC’s massively faster than the designed console specs.

Even if the petition is successful, all we will get is another shite-house port that will be unplayable for years. It’s not something to wish for!

I’ll sign the petition for “I don’t care, I’m not going to buy it anyway.”

It will get released on PC no matter the outcome of this petition, if this does have any impact it will be on the time taken to release it on PC, and fingers crossed to that!
