Star Citizen’s move to Kickstarter pays off: fully funded in less than a week

Star Citizen

Having eventually made it’s way to Kickstarter — despite all plans to the contrary — Star Citizen has now, already, been fully funded. Despite being up on Kickstarter for less than a week, the game has already met its $500,000 goal.

Rewards at this point seem to be mostly a copy of the game, plus a spaceship to fly in game, as well as alpha and beta access and some ‘Galactic Credits’. Higher tiers include some physical rewards such as a glossy map of the universe, blueprints of spaceships or a model of your physical ship.

The game still has the better part of a month before its Kickstarter expires, so I won’t peer pressure you into getting your wallets out just yet if you don’t want to. But check it out here anyway, and see if it interests you.

Awsomeness!

Actually that’s not true. Their minimum goal is still 2 million USD. The combined amount raised so far is 1.85m USD so we are not there yet. It would be cool if you could adapt the otherwise great and supportive article to show that :-)

I won’t lie i have a hard-on over this, pledged my 30 clams the other day. Hope it goes ahead, sounds amazing.

Many gamers have been looking for a great space sim for a good decade now, the last great one probably Freespace, though for me the “X-Wing” series was where it was at X-Wing Alliance being that pinnacle (just better than Tie Fighter).

Of course I enjoyed the Wing Commander series as well, WC3 was great fun and one of the better FMV featured games (Tex Murphy being the best of any FMV featured game)

He has pedigree in the area and there are gamers out there hungry for a good space sim. I Imagine if Bioware introduced real space combat in TOR it would of been a bigger hit (and I would still be playing it).

I’m looking forward to using the oculus rift with this

In for $35. Looks amazing.

Yep, $35 well spent imo. Looking forward to this!

$35? Backed for sure!

…………. and done!

This is the first kickstarter I’ve ever felt worthy of funding. Usually the two year turnaround puts me off. This game however, instant $35 fund.
The wait till the end of 2014 is going to be long.

pledged $125….no idea why lol

Made a thread in the forums for it:

This is going to be a great game to watch develop :)
