Roberts Space Industries, who appropriately acronymise to ‘RSI’, have given up and added an official Kickstarter to their variety of crowd-funding sources.
Citing the complete and total collapse of their own site due to consumer demand as the reason for Kickstarter, the statement goes on to say that Kickstarter will provide a “stable and scalable crowd funding platform in addition to the custom one hosted on the Star Citizen site to help Roberts reach the company’s stated goal of raising a minimum of two million dollars for Star Citizen.”
Their Kickstarter page only seeks a comparatively modest $500,000, and they’re already 16% of the way there at $82,000 from over 2,000 different people.
“It’s a testament to the will power of our amazing fans,” waxed Roberts, lyrically. “At a time when most would have given up, some dedicated fans kept trying to log on and eventually were able to get through and make a pledge. We appreciate all those efforts and now with Kickstarter, we believe we have an answer for everyone.
The crowd-funding drive on the official site is now at $1.1 million, 52% of the way there with 21 days to go.
