Planetside 2 expands with second continent, Esamir

planetside2

If you have a Planetside 2 beta code, please accept my snarling envy, but also, be sure to check in next time the MMOFPS opens its limited office hours so you can wander around Esamir. This entirely new continent – the second of a planned three, with the third due after launch – is a very different prospect to Indar.

As well as the obvious difference of climate (Esamir is a wintry place indeed), you’ll also notice far fewer player structures, and plenty of open space. Sony Online Entertainment hopes this will provide a different experience to the non-stop firefights of Indar, granting you space to breathe between capturing and defending new territory, as well as providing room for more creative strategies. You’ll also notice that the snow, ice and wind make vehicles a little unpredictable; have a bash at it alone before you dive into the fray.

The free-to-play Planetside 2 is in closed beta and expected to go public before the end of the year.

Hasn’t quite been released yet, but Friday (US. Sat in AU) is usually patch night.

There is always twitter to get a beta key!

Yep The Enclave already preparing ourselves for the patch on saturday..

It also means new guns coming into the beta (thank god) and more certs added in.

I for one am looking forward to the trench warfare on planet Hoth.. I mean Esamir.

Patch is up!

thefinn,

yeah, 4.9 gig “Patch”, not to mention patch notes aren’t up and LaunchPad says its “installing” rather than “downloading” the patch.

spkypwnsuall,

They aren’t exactly “on the ball” as far as patch notes are concerned. As to the rest.. So what ?

thefinn,

True, definitely noticing that.
And I guess I’m just picky. Downloads take forever and aren’t unlimited.

Everyone in the Beta just got sent a free buddy key, So hit us up Alice if you’re looking to get one.

Is this the patch I heard will wipe your characters? I got beta access last week but was holding off because I didn’t want to start a new character so soon after beginning.

exe3,

Sure is, check the patch notes if you wanted to know what else is new. I honestly would have started last patch, since we have about 50x the standard XP rate, you could upgrade everything in about 4 days.
