A new video featuring PlanetSide 2‘s creative director Matthew Higby and senior art director Tramell Isaac has been released, which shows them discussing the game’s Heavy Assault Class, as well as the newly-revealed snowy continent of Esamir. It’s 21 minutes long, but if that’s too much of a time investment for you, you could always head onto Twitter and shriek at the official PlanetSide 2 Twitter account in the hopes of getting a beta key? They hand those things out like candy. Where was I? Oh, right.
If you’re hungry for more PlanetSide 2, why not read our tales from the closed beta article?

Esamir was fun the first day it was released, huge battles and all the factions just going nuts over points. then the second day I log in to find NC (blue) 86% of the map which means VS and TR (my choice this round) only have warp gates and you cannot even get out since NC just camp the shields. This is all on the US server Thebes, not sure about the others.
The newest update also for me fixed a ton of lag issues (I run everything low and 85% render) and it began to run a lot smoother, apart from when we do mass assaults on zones it will tend to begin the lag fest. Seems to be getting better with every patch :)
That’s very good news to hear as I was concerned I’d never be able to fly as the game freezes upon trying to load everyone up at once.
Also, whenever I hope on Vanu we seem to stomp NC’s total map control through thinking about where we want to hit:
For example, we held the West end and only put on what we needed to stop the reds coming through, and I took regular loads of troops in a Galaxy deep into NC territory to hit their bases and encourage all their troops to flock to defend (which they did) as we had a mutual agreement with the reds to push the NC back and we quickly gained map dominance.
Interesting youtube link from the GoN feed….maybe not quite relevant? haha
