CD Projekt Red talk the future: Un-announced dark fantasy RPG coming, Cyberpunk to be series

Cyberpunk 2077

A polish journo named Piotr Gnyp, a man renowned for his hatred of vowels, recently did an interview with CD Projekt Red about their plans for the future. The full interview is not up yet, but forum members over at the Witcher forums have collated the information from Gnyp’s twitter account into a delightfully readable summary. Here are the highlights:

The unannounced dark fantasy game we’ve heard so little about – “the Witcher 3?” – is apparently in more advanced stages than Cyberpunk 2077, which has at least been announced. Cyberpunk 2077 is to be part of a series, though, and both parts will be larger than previous installations of The Witcher and both will be multiplatform.

Seemingly at odds with the previous statements, CD Projekt Red are planning to have a quiet 2013, with no Witcher-calibre releases. This leaves us to deduce that both Unnamed Dark Fantasy Title and Cyberpunk 2077 will be 2014 releases.

CD Projekt Red are also toying with the idea of The Witcher on the iPhone. It is, apparently, too early to say but not impossible. There will be no Witcher for PS3 in 2013 though, CD Projekt Red would like to see the series on the Playstation, but not this generation. Both The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 will be released on next generation consoles, lending credence to the idea that they will not see release until 2014.

What do you think of CD Projekt Red’s plans for the future? Do they get you excited, or frustrated that time is going too slowly? Let us know what you think.
