I may pick this up once all the episodes are out because I cant stand waiting so long between episodes and that would not be helped by the fact they are 4-5 hrs each (thus finishing them fairly quickly then waiting a few months). It is more of less paying in advance for what you don't have, that is a risk im not willing to take on games in this day and age.

It was on special last week. Full price is still only $5 per episode. Whenever it's 40% off you're paying $3 per episode. I say it's great value either way.

(And as always, I'm just going to assume I haven't made blatant mathematical mistakes.)

Absolutely brilliant game to begin with, but when you talk to friends about the decisions they made, you realise that your in game decisions have very little effect on the story arc itself, you will find that your decisions essentially only change the way people feel about you and not what will happen in the future. It kind of ruins the game when you realise the choices you make have very little effect on the bigger picture.

For example, in episode one, something happens on the farm that first time around makes you feel like the decision you made has changed the whole course of the game, however when you find out had your decision been different, you would end up with the same outcome, it kind of ruins it.

I can understand what the developers are trying to do and I applaud them for it, but overall the story still continues on down the same path, regardless of the choices you make.

I've nearly finished the latest episode and was equally shocked by the described events. Unfortunately, that's part of what I love about the game.
Really thoughtful post. I have had similar thoughts about TV shows, such as The Walking Dead, and Game of Thrones. I actually didn't get past the first or second episode of Deadwood either.

It's important to know your own personal boundaries. You are a product of your experiences in many ways, and even though it's "just a game", this post is evidence that it has had some effect on you.

Telltale have done an amazing job of creating a world where there's no hope of things getting better. Every time I've tried to keep some of Lee's humanity intact Telltale have gone and ripped it away from me almost immediately or simply changed perspective on things so that what I've done has no relevance at all anymore. You do what you need to do to survive, keeping yourself (and only yourself) alive is the only goal that truly has any traction.
What makes it such a disturbing journey is you can see exactly how these people got from where we are presently to where they are now. It's fictional, but believable.
