Obsidian replaces their homepage with a mysterious teaser site

There is a new teaser site up over at the Obsidian homepage, featuring an image of an ouroboros with a number 4 at the center. Below this image are the words, “What do the words mean? Nothing. The dirge of Eir Glanfath is sound without form, a lone voice crying out in mourning because it must.” So that’s infuriatingly unhelpful! Clicking through the logo and text takes you to a forum revolving around speculation on a ‘Project X’.

Hidden in the source code for the teaser site, by the way, reveals the cryptic message, “X . XX . XX To tenderness, fellowship. To fellowship, vigilance. So bring we all to the Night Market. I am the Spindle of Esenath. Know me by my light and stand with me in darkness.”

Speculation as to what ‘Project X’ might be seem to be favouring a new Dungeon Siege game, with Dungeon Siege publishers Square Enix having mentioned a Dungeon Siege related ‘Project X’ before. Other guesses include the Wheel of Time game that was said to be in the works, which Obsidian held the license for.

The greatest intellectual minds among us, though, have this to say: it’s probably an RPG.

Wow, such a nice compliment to Toby, Jess…. :P

Dibs on it being Fallout 4.

Dibs on it being Fallout 4.

If this ends up being true that’d be so damn awesome. They did a great job with New Vegas (better than Bethesda’s offering even).

I was actually referring to a commenter over at VG247! But you know, if Mr. McCasker said it as well, he deserves anything he gets!
