Minimum Specs for CoD: Black Ops 2 revealed

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - Raul Menendez

Are you ready for some PC SPECS?! Can I get a HELL YEAH?! Well, here we go then! The PC specs for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2! Well, the minimum specs, anyway, and a subsequent Q&A.

Seems that at the least you’re going to need Windows Vista, since they’ve upgraded to DirectX 11, and Windows XP is no longer supported. There will be enhanced graphics for the PC, including lighting, shadows, antialiasing and all the mod cons, so if you want to take advantage of all of these exciting visual features, you’re probably going to want to have more than their minimum specs (an Nvidia GeForce 8800GT 512 MB or ATI Radeon HD 3870 512 MB).

It is specifically mentioned that the game will be playable on the minimum specs — for reals, no foolin’. They’ve tested on a bunch of different hardware, and are confident that the game will be playable if you meet the minimum requirements. For more details check out the full specs and the rest of the Q&A over at the official site.

Because old engine is old.

is it just me or did the picture used there totally reminds me of Ghost Recon Future Soldier?

WAIT…

IT IS future soldier… why is Ghost Recon image being used for Black Ops2???

If I see someone complaining about the lack of XP support I will punch them off the internet.

“There will be enhanced graphics for the PC, including lighting, shadows, antialiasing and all the mod cons”.
Hang on…..WHAT?!

Because we haven’t had said features since….I dunno…Cod2?
It smacks of lazy development given the absurd amount of money the franchise pulls in, especially since they’ve been piling onto the original CoD2 engine (which in itself was the Q3 engine) since creation and it has long since reached the point of bottle-necking.

In a better world, each of the COD games would actually be $40 expansion to CoD2….

With statements like “…the game can run at higher resolutions and higher framerates on the PC.” and that these features are “still in the works” with only a month (or so) before release makes me think that these features are an afterthought when porting the game to PC.

Haha, whoops. That’s really weird. I’ll take care of that.

No XP support, I can’t believe it!

Also people still care about the CoD franchise?

flabcab,

15 or 16 million do, mostly split on console though. when i looked at mw3 sales it sold about 220,000 on pc in the first week. so obviously pc is not where its favoured. u dont buy top of the line equipment to play cod.

saying that i still may buy it on pc, maybe just a cd key retailer. much more excited about MOH warfighter and Crysis 3 :D

“antialiasing” A feature? You have to be joking, It’s the most basic standard graphic option that’s been around in PC gaming for over a decade and yet still console games use MSAA a much weaker and more terrible looking AA or often no AA at all.

This is just like last year with Black Ops 1 making a big deal about having a Server Browser >:| They need to understand it’s not a feature it’s something to be expected of high quality PC titles or Ports.

We get Anti-Aliasing!? Yay! Thank you Activision for being so kind and looking after the PC gamers with such fantastic features that have been around for several decades and is supported in pretty much all of the games.

Hows about a new Game Engine to go with that instead of reskinning the old game over and over and over and over again and selling it off as something new?

Would be nice if it has TXAA support

Quake 3 engine still kicking then~

Now if only iD would come to the party and start releasing good shooters again.

what a stupid thing to say…as terrible as they are now, they still sell like hot cakes. i dislike the game as much as anyone here, but i hate when people say that lol

damn, might have to get myself down to the shop where they sell them there computers and buy me some fancy new machine to play this one.
