Female characters are, in fact, going to be part of Aliens: Colonial Marines

You might remember a couple of months ago, there was a bit of an uproar about the lack of female playable characters in Aliens: Colonial Marines. Well, it turns out that when producer Brian Burleson said at E3 that there were no female characters, he meant in the E3 demo.

Randy Pitchford has told Kotaku that there are female characters in the game, but he was not ready to release the details yet. There will be warrior women in both co-op and competitive multiplayer, and they will be as fully customisable and have as many personalisation options as their male counterparts.

I, for one, am relieved, as I am looking forward to recreating my beloved Vasquez and standing as close to the screen as possible and putting my head on her virtual shoulder. Oh, Vasquez, I miss you so. TMI?

Yeah, this is called back-pedaling… good they are doing it of course.

It’s interesting that a franchise styled around strong women who kick butt and take names would not include female characters in a game. Every time I grows a pair in an FPS and step out of cover guns blazing I mentally scream “LET’S ROCK!” in Vasquez’ voice. She makes Duke Nukem seem as tough as a box full of kittens.

“…he meant in the E3 demo.”

How stupid does he think people are? Just admit you overlooked something, listened to community feedback and made changes in response. Show some balls, man.

If it was an oversight its pretty big considering the movies have always had strong female characters.

Hudson: Hey Vasquez, have you ever been mistaken for a man?
Vasquez: No. Have you?
