Far Cry 3 system specs detailed, DRM continues to be absent

A one-time activation of Far Cry 3 for PC is performed via Uplay PC. An internet connection is required for this one-time activation process. Once activated, the game can be played online to enjoy new social features in single player and multiplayer, such as Friends, Party and Chat, or switched to offline mode in the Uplay PC settings menu for a single player experience without broadband connection.

Uplay = Ubi’s DRM
An internet connection is required for this one-time activation process = DRM

Interesting if they ruin Farcry 3 with the same fail “”match Making” system that ruined Ghost Recon Future Soldier on the PC or keep proper client-server networking model , server browser and LAN support .

With Uplay DRM on SCC and GRFS on the PC . If you dont have an Internet connection , “Multiplayer” is disabled .

With GRFS PC ranked and unranked mode don’t support offline LAN multiplayer .
Its Internet Online Multiplayer or go without. You need to connect to its Match Making system which is done via its uplay “” ghost recon network “” .

Never heard of or seen Uplay before, but after looking it up, it appears to be yet another crappy game distribution system (ala origin) that I do not want to install. I guess it’s better than having Uplay as well as constant internet connection, but still, hardly desirable.

Yeah it seems uplay is trying to be another digital store(Steam/origin) / game browser(gamespy) . Problem is with GRFS and uplay the friends system does not work with GRFS PC v1.00 to 1.4.

I recently bought a Ubi game that didnt need uplay , Mad Riders . But its online part of MP is disabled/greyed out. Only LAN mode works with it.

I dealt with Uplay when playing Conviction.
It wasn’t that bad I have to say but that may of been an old version.

It just came up with the Conviction launcher thing with a sexy background picture and a Trophy menu [The more challenges you did the more stuff you could "Buy" as in use Achievement points to buy New guns and outfits for Co op and the Challenge missions]

Uplay is a horror, it’s like if Steam or Origin was coded by a retarded, drugged monkey with a hatred of all humanity.

I kid you not, it installs plugins without asking or notifying you in both your web browser AND YOUR MAIL CLIENT. Thankfully Mozilla lists it as malicious and disables it, but seriously…

Uplay is still an improvement over whatever they were using before…

Its still a POS, but its the lesser of 2 evils, which is all we seem to deal with these days in gaming.

There is a rather big difference between these two recommended specs

Example recommended 1 (NVidia/Intel)
NVidia GTX480
Intel Core i3-530

Example recommended 2 (AMD)
AMD Radeon HD5770
AMD Phenom II X2 565

gtx 480 was the top of the line that generation where as the 5770 was sorta a budget card.

Probably just based on their own testing. They may have had access to more nvidia cards then amd ones.

Not really worried should run fine on DX11 highest settings :)

hmmm, im slightly above recommended.

AMD 975 black edition
2x GTX460 1gb’s
6gb DDR3 ram…

hopefully that can make it run in a higher graphic setting with decent FPS lol

No mention of OS? I want to see if ditching XP is a new policy with Ubisoft titles.

The High end specs listed are one generation above my CPU and GPU but I still reckon that I will be able to max (or at least almost) the game because the graphics in the videos ive seen aren’t outstanding. I have two GPUs so that might put me above the next generation of GPU anyway.

im hoping having SLI will be a boost for me too. Shit, this is the first game i may not be able to max out! Time for an upgrade soon it seems *bank account cries*

DirectX 9c minimum suggests they haven’t ‘ditched’ it yet…
