Crowd control effects are set to get a buff in the future of Diablo III, with a new developer post hitting Battle.net today that outlines Blizzard’s plans to tackle the issue. Currently, crowd control effects have a substantially lessened power as you advance through higher difficulties, something that Blizzard intends to correct through a reworked diminshing returns system.
The new system will add a new stat to each monster that tracks its resistance to crowd control effects, a stat that is handled individually to allow for control effects to reduce in duration with increased application. The maths behind it is a delightful insight into the difficulty of successful game design, and is an interesting read as well: take a look at the full new crowd control equations right on over here.

something interesting to note from this is that this type of complaint has never been voiced by the players. this is good as the team are obviously not only listening to feedback, but still coming up with ways to improve the game theirselves.
as for the changes, they will be interesting. my build (critical mass, storm chaser) revolves around mobs being CCed 80-90% of the time through frost nova. it seems like starting up will be easier, but after the resistance comes in it will just be like normal. should be good.
I would still love to see a nerf on the double tornado build. that thing is ridiculous.
people still play ? so sad.
You’re sad for bothering to post.
You’re so cool man.
This will be interesting, I’m hoping it will have some positive effects for Mass Confusion. I love that spell.
Nothing sad about getting my money’s worth mate. Most people I’ve spoken to who got the game went through as only 1-3 classes. While I’ve yet to reach lvl 60 with any character, I am enjoying all 5 classes.
In regards to the crowd control spells, it’ll be interesting to see what they do. I think the only crowd control skills I use are Blinding Flash on my Monk, and Caltrops on my DH. They’re pretty effective in Nightmare so I’m not sure how limited hey are in Hell or Inferno… will be interesting to see if they get buffed.
The only way you’ll get your money’s worth is by getting a refund.
