Defensive skill changes and Infernal Machines to summon uber-bosses coming in Diablo III

Diablo 3

Blizzard have begun to tease the general shape of changes they’re planning to make in the upcoming 1.0.5 patch for Diablo III. Primary among the changes is the “nerf that is not a nerf” teased yesterday, explained by Blizzard as “changes to defensive skills across the board while simultaneously reducing incoming damage.”

“The net result is a survivability buff for players, and an increase in build options as defensive abilities become less mandatory”.

As well as this, 1.0.5 will include a device called ‘The Infernal Machine’, which will allow level 60 players to summon uber versions of “some of Sanctuary’s most nefarious bosses” — and then try and murder them. The device will need to be assembled first, however.

Finally, 1.0.5 will add a new ‘Monster Power’ command similar to the ‘Players 8′ command that gives finer control over how challenging enemies will be. More details are expected to arrive on the Battle.net blog next week. Patch 1.0.5 is also widely expected to nerf the Trail of Cinders bug.

very interested to see the details of these changes.

once again, they address some of the major complaints from players. it’s now easy to say that anyone who criticises Blizzard for not listening obviously hasn’t been keeping track of the patches.

Meh, Torchlight 2 in ~5 days. Too little too late blizz.

Cause you know, I’m sure you’ll be playing Torchlight 2 every day for the next 3 years and it will be the embodiment of all your hopes and dreams.

People still play D3…

Are you saying Diablo III is?

Torchlight was dull, so I expect Torchlight 2 will be on par with Diable III.

xviper,

No, I’m saying that’s what people wanted D3 to be, and now it’s what they think Torchlight 2 will be.

skitzor,

Yeah, it’ll be nice to put a few more offensive oriented passives on my characters rather than mostly defensive ones. Wouldn’t mind improving my resource generation/management, particularly on my Barb so I’m not sticking to a build that hardly uses Fury. My only Fury spender is Seismic Slam… all other moves generate Fury or, in the case of Earthquake, I’m using the rune which eliminates the cost of Fury.

Then again, if I’m use to not using Fury, I’d love to use the passives Beserker Rage and Unforgiving for a bonus 25% damage all the time. Knowing me, I’ll probably replace ‘Seismic Slam’ with ‘Harsh Language’, I mean ‘Threatening Shout’.
