Ubisoft having a $1 sale to launch their Australian online store

Assassin's Creed: Revelations

Ubisoft are launching their new online store in Australia, and to celebrate they’ve decided to mark down some of their titles on it to the measly price of one dollar.

Driver: San Francisco, From Dust, Silent Hunter 5 and Tom Clancy’s® H.A.W.X.® 2 are now available for $1 until Sunday.

During the same time frame you can also pick up bargains on other titles including all Assassin’s Creed games at 75% off. Check out the full list of games up for sale over at this link.

Did anyone want buy these games before? Didn’t think so.

Sorry but they won’t get me into their store any time soon. They’ve proven to me on multiple occasions that they don’t give a damn about PC gamers.

ubisoft store, now with online only purchasing?

I’m only seeing ‘From Dust’ for $1

Driver’s $38,

Silent Hunter 5 is $13,

Hawx 2 is $26.

Are the other 3 on for $1 for anyone else?

i take it back, looking at the store website has revealed this gem to me, http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubiemea/en_AU/pd/productID.240950200/Tom_Clancys_Rainbow_Six_Patriots.html

yep new rainbow, awwwwww yeah

I’ve played all the games mentioned above, and they’re quite good .. Driver San Fran more than ‘just good’.

According to the ubisoft banner there is only one $1 game per day

Thur – HAWX 2
Fri – From Dust
Sat – Silent Hunter 5
Sun – Driver – San Francisco

Meh

I bought HAWX2 yesterday for 1 dorrah. dunno if i’ll play it though.

Will be grabbing Driver for a dollar! Have been considering buying it again on Xbox (sold it back, was initially unimpressed) but it’s still retailing at over $50, not worth it at that price.

Why does there need to be an Australian store? Digital = global. Ridiculous management that needs to move with the times.

Doesnt matter all these games just boot UPLAY anyway from steam ,well hawx 2 and from dust anyway

meh .. driver isn’t 1 dollar.. only shit games that don’t sell are marked down,, FARCRY is 9.95 lolz… ubi can keep there crap

$1 for Silent Hunter 5 hmm well I think that has the infamous Ubisoft DRM.

I think I’m tempted to try Driver when it’s $1 on Sunday….

This looks interesting http://shop.ubi.com/store/ubiemea/en_AU/pd/productID.247619900/Rocksmith%E2%84%A2_-_AUTHENTIC_GUITAR_GAMES_-_Guitar_Bundle.html

Been waiting months for Rocksmith to arrive in Australia, however:

Still baffles me how publishers can sell their stuff directly and charge more than a 3rd party does

darthlondar: Still baffles me how publishers can sell their stuff directly and charge more than a 3rd party does

That’s how it works normally. If the publisher itself undercut the 3rd party, why would anyone want to carry their product?

nope.avi

DIE DIE UBI

aetherfox: That’s how it works normally. If the publisher itself undercut the 3rd party, why would anyone want to carry their product?

But in the Real World, isn’t it usually cheaper to buy something direct from the manufacturer rather than a shop that sells the same thing?

tranquil,

makes total sense!

So any of this would involve that worthless piece of trash, UPlay, right?

I bought From Dust on Steam because I’ve been keen to try it out since I first heard about it. But I can’t play it without registering for UPlay, which was installed without my consent as part of the install process. Even better, UPlay also installed plugins for Firefox (wtf) and Thunderbird (WTF WTF WTF) without telling me, asking my permission, or giving me any way to uninstall them.

Any company that thinks it’s ok to install a DRM system into my m…..f….. EMAIL CLIENT without even TELLING ME can seriously go to hell. I hope this post discourages someone out there from giving Ubi even a lousy dollar in their lousy sale. Just go bust and leave making games to someone competent and honest.

Some more info about the ‘benefits’ of giving your money to Ubisoft – Mozilla regards their silently installed plugin as malicious:

Ubisoft exposes gamers to security hole without their knowledge or consent:

And for lulz, check out the quality customer support in relation to these issues – summary, “oh yeah, we did that stuff, but don’t worry, it’s all perfectly legit and secure… now”:

It certainly does, I was just about to buy it for $1 when I saw it has the crap. So they can keep their game.

Mmmm….

Not $1. Bundled with malware.

Pass.

WHAT don’t we have steam, i mean on Xbox or PS3 you go to online store, look, buy and steam can offer some sweet sales too, but you expect PC users to have Steam, Origin, Impulse (and now the f’in Gamestop one is i wish to keep windowsblinds up to date) and Uplay joins the fray, and i’m sure i missed heaps. My PC is becoming a junkyard and i’m seriously don’t think i can be bothered anymore, superior gaming or not, it’s just easier to load up red dead on the PS3 and game without hassles, one service, that’s all we need, steam should be it on PC, all gamers, all developers UNITE and make the dream come true, if they sold in only one place, one cost, it would be cheaper! Fark i need my medication
