Team Fortress 2′s Mann vs Machine update is now LIVE

Team Fortress 2

The new Team Fortress 2: Mann vs Machine update is now live! To celebrate, and to account for what we know will be a huge influx of players, games.on.net will be opening up twelve new TF2 servers. In addition, over at TeamFortress.com there is heaps of new info about what exactly is happening with this new game-type-thing.

There’s a bunch of new achievements listed over here, and an FAQ telling us how the Tour of Duty monetary-system will work over here. It is a little bit canny! But whether or not you choose to go for the paid system, we will see you all in game! Saddle up, we got some robots to murder!

So it’s like co-op TF2? Sounds good wonder wether the rare items are worth playing in Mann Up Mode for.

Haven’t played TF2 since they started bringing the hats in… co-op is always fun though!

It sounds like you have to buy a 99cent voucher for each mission in the Mann up mode, which is the only way of getting the Tour of Duty. Several missions can be on the one map, so it would be interesting to see how this works out.

submariner,

It sounded more to me that several maps are one mission.

From the looks. the 99c voucher is to play on the servers that grant items.
Personally while the idea is good it was executed poorly.
At time of posting
1132 full game servers
90 active games
1 empty server.
8012 people in queue
Over an hour and still waiting to get into a server.
Played decoy I think it was and it lasted about the same/less then a normal tf2 game. Also threw me on a US server with 350+ ping

map mvm_NAME;sv_lan 0;sv_pure 1;heartbeat
This is to host a listen server. Make sure in game to sv_password “PASSWORD” in the in-game console without the quotes to set a password.

Forgot to say to make sure max players is set to 32. Bots will not spawn unless you do it.

pulviriza,
Found the bit I was looking for in the FAQ :)

Q: What is a Mission?

A Mission is a set of robot attack waves staged on a single map. A Mission is “completed” when your team survives the entire set of waves in a single session.
