I brought RAGE on day one and wasn't able to play it for about 3 months...

When I did I played it for less than 2 hours...

iD Software really needs a proper game designer, they build there games too much around the tech John Carmack is doing. They need someone to have the authority to say we are making a game about this and with this, and John Carmack if need be needs to build tech to support that.

Anyone who knows the history of iD Software will know that is one of their issues, John Carmack became all powerful, paranoid and got rid of who he didn't like and those that didn't follow what he wanted.

PC players were justified in being unhappy with the poor PC support during the initial launch. ID did eventually fix the problems but by then a lot of players had understandably given up on the game. Personally I quite enjoyed Rage and stuck through with it. ID have never been about engaging storylines for me, which is why I've never really enjoyed their games, so Rage was something of a pleasant surprise. The intro cinematic is one of my all time favourites.

iD sort of fell down when they started releasing engines with some gameplay slapped on – ie everything Doom 3 and after.Loved and played Quake, Q2 and Q3 to death, since then though it’s been quite downhill for me with iD games.

RAGE was a great game for what it was, and he didn’t need to apologize. Games are still about tech, despite what some of you want to say. Also, for those of you talking about how terrible Id Software is, I say to you have fun with EA, Bioware, and Activision. Personally, I prefer staying on the side of the guys who are attempting to make waves and take risks.

</blockquote>
I agree with both of you lol. Quake 3 was shooter perfection for me, but while they've certainly gone downhill a bit since then I still have all the time in the world for Id, love them.

Im really looking forward to doom 4...i think it's going to set on earth, hopefully it's a lot more of a shoot em up than a horror survival like doom 3 (which i still thoroughly enjoyed)...wouldn't mind a bit of the horror stuff to be in doom 4 though. Just nowhere near as much lol

It's not about the tech anymore... it's the gameplay. Rage really could have done with a proper co-op romp through the main campaign like what Borderlands did.

I'm hoping Doom 3 BFG Ed will have split screen co-op as an enhancement (there has to be a reason to go back and play the game for some), and that Doom 4 is the action packed 'Hell on Earth' game that will give CoD and Battlefield a run for its money. I'm talking about an epic, scripted 1 to 4 player co-opable campaign and then a large scale, vehicular, class based multiplayer mode. OK, no vehicles for the demon spawn... they can spawn as Masterminds or Cyber Demons.
