New competitive multiplayer mode announced for Aliens: Colonial Marines

A new multiplayer mode called ‘Escape’ has been revealed for Gearbox’s upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines, which will pit two teams of four players against each other in a fight to the death.

The mode sees the Colonial Marines trying to evacuate from an area and reach a safe zone, while the xenomorph players try and pick them off as fast possible. It sounds a bit Left 4 Dead-ish, and quite frankly that’s just fine with me. I always thought that game could use more aliens.

Looks like it could be a lot of fun, very L4D style gameplay, which should be awesome!

I hope there are AI Aliens too. Because just 4 constantly respawning Aliens is going to make it a bit dull.

I quite like this mode! Never played much L4D but played something similar: Zombie Panic with the same mode. Loved it.

id like to see two team of marines trying to escape and using the xenomorphs roaming around to attack their enemies. like training bad guys into innocents in an mmo, say marines that are in opposing camps or something, that could be very strategical.

looks like its only 3rd person for Aliens?

:(

There was a similar game type in the 2001 Aliens Vs Predator 2 PC game. That was awesome fun. It does look like the aliens are in 3rd person..which is a shame because its more fun 1st person. In the old AvP2 I always liked the way the teeth would appear on the outside of the screen when you’re in range of a headshot.

jesus. that looked so good.

Non-canon xenos: lame.
