MechWarrior Online reveals River City map, new gameplay

An urban map for the upcoming MechWarrior Online has been revealed in the recently-released ‘River City’ map trailer, which shows what Piranha Games describe as ‘unrelenting’ terrain. Two bridges span this unrelenting terrain, forming key bottlenecks to fight over and underneath. Take a look for yourself, and enjoy three minutes of new gameplay footage to boot!

dear PGI

i would love a map that i can see further than i can shoot

If you use thermal vision you can normally see a fair bit further. Would also like the magic fog to be pushed back a bit and my ballistic weapons to actually fire when I tell them to.

No aircraft or other types of vehicles at all apart from mechs ?

Kind of sad 25 years on. It’s such a pity the strategic elements of the MW universe have never really taken hold. Seeing those giant mechs alone on a battlefield seems kind of empty.

it’s a good map to play, not a huge fan of the yellow colour wash over everything

Need new VO talent!

Mech’s nowhere near shakey enough IMHO – in a 100 ton mech that dude jumped up onto a bridge, ran around, ran through water etc – camera was as smooth as butter, with slight shake to the cockpit frame.

Thats because its not a 100 ton mech.. Looks to be a Jenna, which is one of the light mechs in the game. Never been a fan of head bob in any game, have always disabled that option. Combat wise it seems to have a lot of potential, combined with the ability to load out a mech how you want, looks like the game could be around for a while.

Did I see laser proof trees there (around 2 minutes)?

Bring on Hawken….
