mmm, for the most part i would imagine it would be fairly boring to be too accurate.
I don't want to die everytime i take on equally armed opponents and there happens to be a few more of them than me.

I want to be the badass who can take on 6 or 7 guys at once and win, which isn't how things go, but it sure is fun in a game ;D

There would probably be a way to make it work design wise, but i would rather have a decent story and fun game than historical accuracy for it's own sake.

Back in the day I actually really enjoyed the game Lionheart (even with it's flaws) that had a great mix of real history and fantasy. Felt a lot more "real" than most RPG's out there but you could still lay the magic smackdown if required.

I'm not sure if I would enjoy a true historic RPG that was true to everything, kind of annoying to die of dysentery or syphillis lol

Historically accurate RPG - You clear out rats from your shed for your father (as all RPG's start with rat killing) Gain level 2. Fight 1 group of people, 1 arrow hits you, you die game over. You need some element of fantasy to make it believable that you can survive a level of damage.

Or they could just expand into the fantasy genre of 'low fantasy' instead, since historical accuracy as discussed in the article is just silly given how many holes we have in historical information.

'low fantasy' is basically a new fictional world and story, but with only 'abilities' people had from actual history - ie no magic
