If you’re running Saint’s Row: The Third on an otherwise capable rig, but you’re getting micro-stuttering or performance drops, chances are you’re playing with an AMD/ATi GPU in the 5xxx or 6xxx range. Over at the Saint’s Row forum, there is a post from the Volition team acknowledging the issue, saying they’ve added patches and updates aplenty with the guidance of the AMD/ATi team, with only mild improvement. “For those with affected cards, we’re still not up the level of quality we all expect from a Volition game, and we thank you for your patience as we work with AMD for a solution.”

I remember this was horrible when it first came out. Was almost unplayable for me. I’m glad they’re working on the issue. Though I’m surprised an official statement has taken this long.
Buy an Nvidia card. Problem solved.
Really? Played it through on a 6870 with no issues whatsoever way back when it came out. Why is this only news now? The game came out ages ago.
Still plays terribly on my 6950 2GB, pretty much gave up hoping for it to ever get better.
i think the problem was worsened that i was using 2 6970 cards…
Played fine with my old HD5850.
Guess it’s luck.
I recently bought this during the steam sales and noticed the micro-stuttering… it wasn’t anything crippling but the game definitely takes more of a toll on the card than It should.
is this not proof enough that Nvidia is the better card and has the better DEVICE DRIVERS?????
exe, mekon and etc???????
I have the right to — and will — choose the chip manufacturer of my choice.
In related news, Saints Row 2 is available ‘free’ with PlayStation Plus for this month…

Good for you, ATI always have issues with an endless amount of games.
And so have NVIDIA you ignorant fool.
Search ‘game doesn’t work nvidia’ or ‘problem with driver nvidia’ or anything remotely like that and you will find heaps of people who have had problem with either the drivers or general graphical problem with certain types of games. In fact, I have not seen anything in my long time playing video games to indicate that AMD or Nvidia are any better or worse than each other.
Grow up, child…
