The latest patch for Star Wars: The Old Republic hits today, but that’s not all that’s new with the game. Coming with it is the free trial system, whereby new players will be able to try out any of the eight classes available, on the classes’ origin world, and up to level 15. Players also have the ability to join in PvP Warzones and have access to one Flashpoint. Head over here to try it out, and over here for an FAQ.

worth the dl?
I enjoyed the hell out of SW:TOR for a while, but it got really grindy around level 40. Definitely worth the DL IMO, it’s at least worth seeing if its story-heavy take on the MMO genre is something you’ll enjoy.
The story is good fun, I enjoyed most of the classes, the problem for me, in the end, was that there was no LFG tool (it has since been added) and the classes pretty much felt like one another with a variation on resources used and very few unique feeling abilities. That and woeful space combat.
I cancelled my sub, might pick it back up if decent space combat is added.
I had fun in SWTOR. For a story MMO it’s quite good, at least until it starts becoming grindy.
I prefer The Secret World for the whole story thing though. Not as much dialogue interaction, but still a lot of story.
Try it! Still an awesome MMO, and I personally didn’t run into any grind until I’d finished my story, and was actually trying to get things I wanted. Their effort to do a story focused MMO really paid off in my eyes, and makes rerolling a blast and everyone at least somewhat a role player.
If anyone is on Dalborra and needs a hand, look up Hul’kh on the Republic side, or Resh on the Empire side. Also, if anyone wants to do me a favour and be referred by me let me know too >_>
Utterly loved playing an Imperial Agent.
Pity the client isnt a free download
Playing through the story now, it’s absolutely awesome. I can see why people consider it the best one.
Ohh the new Quote thing looks good. Too bad I can’t edit my post though >_>
How’s the Aussie PvP server going nowadays? I pretty much quit the game a few days before that happened and never really got to try it.
Fantastic game, had an active sub for 4 months, finished the storyline for two characters, Sorceror and Sniper. What really blew my mind after finishing the game was finding out later there were at least 4 completely different endings to the Sniper storyline, depending on who you chose to kill or keep a live early on in your career, like as early as level 20.
It’s one of those games where faced with a decision, I sometimes had to pause the game and go think about it for half an hour before making my choice, because there is no save point!
And of course the PVP is amazing, first MMO with 30ms ping, and Huttball specifically, one of the only PVP games where the objective is not primarily “kill the enemy” which opens up a mind boggling array of strategies and tactics which you will need a premade to enjoy.
For those looking to grab the main files (i think its missing some patches tho, but still, less quota for those with our sponsors!) http://games.on.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=289&t=193451
I play still with my mates from school and uni every thursday night, rolling a jedi knight, smuggler, imp agent and marauder… Story lines up to level 20 are worth the download, past expands the game so much more than what you have experienced getting to 20.
well worth the time to check out if your a KOTOR fan, or want something different to your rpg/mmo
Also feel free to add yourselves to this page!

It really is an MMO for people looking for a true RPG experience. As opposed to a min/max’ing loot driven game.
