pearl, You are certainly right - but the article is pretty long as it is! It wouldn't be sensible, I don't think, to talk about hardware solutions and then not have some kind of basic instruction on how to get them working, but considering that this was over 1000+ words already, I felt it was a sensible move to not include it. I also didn't want to overload people with information, for what it's worth.

This is a great article, did not know about this, I did know about ustream and justin.tv and I have played with fraps which is simple, but I will try xsplit, thanks

pearl, This article seems like its aimed at the average Joe that wants to dabble in streaming. I doubt they are going to want to go out and buy a specific piece of hardware just to try it out..

My Q6600 @ 3ghz gets about 25-35fps trying to Stream a medium sized battle at any res.

You left out the Hardware options that do all the encoding onboard eliminating any strain on the CPU at all.
