Street Fighter x Tekken on-disc DLC can be yours on July 31

Capcom has announced a July 31 release date for its controversial Street Fighter x Tekken on-disc DLC. The DLC pack contains 12 new characters – Blanka, Sakura, Guy, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Jack, Bryan Fury, Alisa, Lars, Lei and Christie – and will go for 1600 Microsoft Points or about $20. The characters are free in the Vita version of the fighter, which launches around the same time, and were the cause of much furious debate after they were discovered to be included on-disc with the HD console versions; Capcom has promised to revise its DLC strategy moving forward as a result of the furore. The DLC also brings a balancing patch, and will be accompanied by more premium alternate costume bundles.

Yeah “here guys, we’ll do things differently from now on, but first, anyone interested in giving us $20 so they can use the rest of what’s on their disc? Any takers at all?”

Charging for content already included…

“Capcom has promised to revise its DLC strategy moving forward as a result of the furore.” Yeah off to a great start Capcom with this news, well done…

Would you guys honestly be happier if they left the characters off the disc and you had to download them?
What actual difference does it make to you?

The way I see it, I want the characters, so I will pay some money. If I don’t want the characters, I will not pay money. It makes NO difference to me whether they are on the disc or not, apart from the fact I will have to download less and will be able to play against people with the extra characters online.

If they weren’t on the disc, we’d have to download the characters in a compatibility patch anyway, regardless of whether we bought them.

Would we complain if we got the data in the compatibility patch and then have to pay to unlock what we just downloaded?
