Reporter pees her pants as new Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition details are announced

Baldur's Gate

By far the greatest and best news today is the announcement of a release date and some game details for Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition. At least for the PC, anyway. The new, enhanced edition of Baldur’s Gate will be available for the PC on September 18, which is only, what, 7 and a half weeks? Or about 8 sleeps, ’cause I’ll be too excited for napping. There’s no firm release date for the other platforms just yet, but it will be in September as well, except for Android which is still TBA.

There are a bunch of new characters and adventures detailed as well, which promises to add up to another 18 hours of gameplay, though I was dismayed to notice that on the iPad, two of three extra characters are only available as in-app purchases. In any case, there is a lot of cool stuff to check out at their website, so I strongly suggest checking it out for more details.

AWWWWWWWWW YEAH

WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

Sorry. Had to be said.

Online multiplayer has been upgraded to include matchmaking functionality, and games can be played across multiple platforms. Adventurers on iPad, Mac, PC and Android Tablets can all play Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition together.

I think I need to change my pants.

Improvements is OVER 400!

Go for the iDevices, boo!

Looking at the screenshots, it’s just looks like BG1 ported to BG2 engine.

Unworthy King

………ew

Would look better building a retro Windows 98 PC with a large 1024×768 LCD and playing it on that. :(

slazza,

That’s already been done, some sort of mod exists to allow that for BG1 if you have BG2. I’d also assume this new version of BG2 is about more than looks.

And you are wondering why we never take you anywhere…
