It can and occasionally very well start in the legs and travel upwards.

What’s entertaining to one man is boring to another.

It’s almost impossible for a blood clot to move from the legs into the coronary arteries or the brain. It would first have to pass through the pulmonary circulation in which the vessels become very small before opening again into the left side of the heart. This is why lung clots (pulmonary embolisms) are far more common and likely.

Emboli that affect the heart or brain more commonly form in the left side of the heart itself, usually due disturbed flow secondary to valvular problems or arrhythmias.

Marius: As Ralph pointed out, it’s DVT. What happens is if you don’t move for a long period of time, your veins can clot up. The clot moves from the legs to the lungs resulting in death.

He would be lucky if it was a blood clot to his lungs. Lungs will kill you, brain or heart will just give you a massive stroke. You’d be alive but no more responsive then a vegetable.

Still, DVT or not I would say this man had some other underlying condition. 40 hours would mean he had to have gone to the bathroom at some stage unless he was imitating the Sniper from TF2 with his own jarate jar.

Just because the cafe staff didn’t seem him move doesn’t mean he didn’t get up for pee breaks, it’s the old tree in a forest situation.

Heard this on Triple J this morning too, apparently he stood up, took 3 steps then just collapsed. I’m going with the blood clot on that.

I’ve done some long stupid sessions in my time, but I guess I always stopped before I did permanent harm to myself.

This is nothing, a mate and i set a personal record of 75hours straight :3 We had a Halo legendary marathon when Halo Anniversary came out. Oddly enough we played the series backwards and when at Halo2 i stopped and said “Wait why are we playing halo2? we don’t get any achievements” mate just shrugged and we continued.

I’m glad i managed to break off from Achievement hunting and convert fully to PC gaming, honestly feels better for my health… That’s not saying much though Lol.

They weren’t really blaming Video Games but just said what he was doing.
